I can only speak from personal experiences in regards to D-Mannose, but for a fact D-Mannose has helped eliminate my bladder infections.
Since I was a child I was prone to bladder infections. My childhood doctor put me on a medication and required me to take it everyday for over 5 years! If I missed 1 day I would get a bladder infection. This started when I was 4 or 5 years old and I finally have found a solution!
Doctors realized after 5 years of prescribing me this medication that it wasn't correct and they took me off immediately. In replacement of the pill, I had to drink a gross thick liquid if my infection would come back.
The doctor's explanation of my bladder issue, to my recollection, is I have a misshaped bladder that developed pot holes, urine would sit in those little holes and cause an infection.
Bladder infections can happen for many different reasons.
- frequent sexual intercourse
- having sexual intercourse with a new partner
- using a diaphragm and a spermicide for birth control
- having diabetes
- having a bladder or kidney infection within the past 12 months
- changes in the urinary system
- Infection of the urethra (urethritis)
- Urinary track abnormalities
- Blockages in the urinary tract
- A suppressed immune system
- Catheter use
- A recent urinary procedure
How does D-mannose work?
D-mannose is a simple sugar found in many fruits. It is related to glucose. It also occurs naturally in some cells in the human body. I've read that sugar attaches to any E. coli bacteria present and prevents them from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract or bladder. The bacteria are then flushed out on urination. Sounds pretty simple!
Since I'm prone to bladder infections I now put D-mannose into my everyday routine. This is one pill I'm excited to take! I put 1 bottle next to my bed and the other in the kitchen, so I have no excuses if I miss a day.
The brand I take is Solaray Link . You can order it next day delivery on Amazon.
Hope this give some of you reassurance that bladder infections are preventable without doctor prescribed medication.
Till next time!
