So the question is how much protein does your body need in one day?
This answer is determined by how active you are, do you train with weights and what are you trying to accomplish in regards to your bodys look?
Men, if you are trying to build mass with weight lifting take 1.0- 2.0 grams of protein per pound of body weight. This can reach to 400 grams for a 200 pound person. My fiance Ryan is taking 380-400 grams of protein daily!
- 1.0 gram per pound of body weight to maintain you muscle mass.
- 2.0 grams per pound of body weight to build up your muscle mass.
For the gym buffs saying that's too much protein to take, ask your self, Do you have the body you want now? If not, you must be doing something wrong.
I rather you feed your body too much protein rather than to deprive your body of the protein it needs to repair and build muscle mass. If you notice a little weight gain then adjust your protein levels down till you find what's right for your body.
For woman, multiply your weight in pounds by .36 or your weight by kg by .8
For my pregnant friends and you need to increase your protein by 30 grams and 20 if you are nursing.
- I weigh 135 pounds. Multiply 135 by .36= 48.6 grams
- On my hard core work out days I will take anywhere from 60.75- 162 grams of protein in a day.
