Yesterday, I had the honor in meeting Keith Ferrazzi. Author of the book “Never Eat Alone”. This book is definitely being added to my recommended must read list along with his book “Who’s Got Your Back?”. It’s all about secrets to success one relationship at a time and building up your lifeline relationships.

Juls Bindi and Keith Ferrazzi

Keith said that the real path to success in work and in life is through creating an inner circle of “lifeline relationships”. Lifeline relationships means having a deep, close relationships with a few key trusted individuals who will offer the encouragement, feedback, honesty and generous mutual support that each of us needs to reach our full potential.

Example: The Sex in the City Girls. They’re an inseparable team of friends who always stood together no matter what.

With that pointed out, he had me write down 5 people that I believe will help with my success.

It doesn’t have to be people I know, or people I necessary have a solid relationship with. They could be acquaintances or simply someone I feel would make a good mentor or was introduced to once.

With that list find a way to help make them successful. Interesting twist, don’t you think? So I asked him, what if these people are already successful? How would I be able to help them?

He pointed out that there are 3 types of currencies that people might need help with.

  • Universal
  • Professional
  • Personal

For more information on those currencies, buy his book “Who’s Got Your Back?”.

Yours and my homework is; Write a list of 25 names that you believe will help with your success in what you do or want to do.

In front of their names write:

  • -1, for a hurt relationship that needs to be repaired
  • 0, for someone you don’t know
  • 1, if you were introduced to them
  • 2, for acquaintances
  • 3, for friends (And I mean real friends! Not just facebook friends folks.)

Read the book “Who’s Got Your Back” for more advice on how to implement that list and put it to work.

I hope you will enjoy Keith Ferrazzi as much as I do, which I hope will help you achieve a clear view to your future lifeline relationships. Happy Friday and thanks again to Keith for all your helpful incite!
