I just started to become a consumer of coffee along with the other 150+ million Americans that drink coffee.
It's terrifying that coffee is on the top 10 list of the most heavily contaminated foods we consume. Almost all of our coffee is grown outside of the United States. As a consequence, there is little to no standards to regulate pesticides and other chemicals used on our beans.
The United States actually produces and exports some of these unpleasant and dangerous chemicals to these foreign countries that produce our coffee. It's way too dangerous and illegal for our growers to use these toxic chemicals on our farm lands so we have them do it. Now that doesn't seen right to me. What do you think?
What can you do? Stop purchasing any coffee that is not organic period! This will force the major chains to change their standards and give us a product worth consuming.
