Are you Eating enough Fruits & Vegetables?

I have heard so many different studies about how many vegetables and fruits we should be eating in one day. I heard it was 5 a day, then 7 a day, but now new nutritional guidelines indicate that we should be consuming 9-13 servings a day!

What’s classified as a serving?

  • One-half cup of raw or cooked vegetables,
  • three quarters cup of vegetable juice (6oz) or
  • one cup of raw leafy vegetables is equivalent to one serving.

With my schedule and most of your schedules it’s not physically possible to constantly be shoving vegetables down our throats every minute. This is one of the reasons why juicing is the key to your success of getting all the nutrients possible from the day. Plus with juicing you can consume vegetables you normally wouldn’t eat.

Today I juiced:

  • 8 Kale leafs
  • 3 collard green leafs
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 cup of parsley
  • 3 radishes
  • 2 cups of arugula
  • 1 quarter beet root
  • 1 apple

All of that equaled out to be: 24 ounces. 4 servings of vegetables. So if that’s the case I need to make sure I have 5-8 more servings of vegetables and one more fruit. On the norm, I recommend only eating 1 to 2 fruits a day if you are trying to lose weight or keep your sugar intake low.

So, morning, with the juice included, 1 banana with granola (1 serving) , 5 uncooked broccoli (1 serving) with apple cider vinegar on top, dinner will be 1 half of a baked sweet potato (1 serving), 1 cup of leafy greens with 1 roma tomato (2 servings) and I’ve got my day covered. This doesn’t even cover the the essential Carbohydrates, Essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, enzymes and phytochemicals that I eat as well. I eat to live, not live to eat. How is this even possible? Read my other blog about meal planing and grocery shopping. If you plan accordingly you can pack your meals to go and everything will be ready to eat! We use space coolers when traveling or working. Let me know what your life style is like and lets see if we can find something that will work for you. Good luck and stay healthy. xxx <3 A&L
