The 5 day Liver detox:

This is a diet that you follow for five days, eating only certain foods and combinations of foods.

For example, one particular cleanse is raw vegetable smoothies for meals and lots of purified water.

I love this site for amazing raw smoothie ideas. Modify them to the cleanse though please… Awesome Raw Smoothie Recipes

  • Prepare a juice every morning. You can use celery, oranges and apples and carrots.
  • Continue with drinking rosemary tea, twice or three times everyday.
  • Boil four different kinds of vegetables every afternoon, such as broccoli, carrots, spinach, celery and potatoes and prepare their vegetable broth. Once you have chopped the vegetables, boil them, filter them and drink its broth preferably every three hours.

There are many herbs that are recommended for detoxifying the liver. Most of these herbs can be found at any health food center or online.

  • Turmeric- increases bile production and helps with the treatment of gall stones Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant.
  • Milk Thistle- is a strong anti-toxin
  • Yellow Dock-helps to dissolve fat in the liver and is an excellent anti-toxin
  • Dandelion- immune system booster and anti-toxic
  • Licorice Root- Helps neutralize the effects of powerful chemical toxins

These herbs can be used in various combinations to help detoxify the liver and keep it functioning properly.

To have an ongoing liver cleanse detox diet:

Organic foods are an important part of a clean diet because they contain no harmful chemicals or growth hormones.

Lean organic proteins such as poultry, beef and fish is a good place to start. Make sure you consume no less than 4 ounces a day.

Excessive levels of carbohydrates can actually interfere with the liver’s natural detoxification processes and only organic, whole grains should be eaten. Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, kale, cauliflower and cabbage are good for the liver and the body in general.

Foods to always avoid:

  • white flour,
  • sugar,
  • artificial sweeteners,
  • additives and preservatives

Please to make sure you drink half your body weight in ounces of water. Water is vital to the vitality of your organs and body.

During this cleanse you may feel these symptoms:

  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Allergy / flu-like symptoms
  • Acne
  • Arthritis like joint pain
  • Confusion
  • Weakness
  • Yeast infection
  • Swollen lymph nodes

This is completely normal and will pass after a couple days. Just hang in there and stay strong. You feel this way because all the toxins are passing out of your body. Your body will be working extremely hard to clean itself out. So please be careful that you are not around anyone that is sick. Your immune system will be weak and settable to catch something.

Tomorrow I’ll go over products you can take during your liver cleanse and the symptoms you may have during the cleanse.
